Testimonial by Florence Gans
Many people think of Aromatherapy as the use of plant scents
for relaxation or healing purposes. The field of Aromatherapy is actually very broad. Smell is only one of the many ways in
which you can introduce plants to the body. Many of these plant essences are extremely potent and can be very dangerous in
certain situations. Some people and animals have allergies or toxic reactions to different plants. Since Aromatherapy is not
regulated in the United States, it is wise to understand some of the complexities of this field before you buy and use products.
It is extremely difficult for the untrained lay person to discern whether or not products that they are buying are pure, or
have had synthetic chemicals of some sort added during extraction or in order to increase the producer's bottom line.
Because of all of this, for many years I did not use any Aromatherapy in my work with clients. A huge blessing in my life
was meeting former molecular biologist Cristl Arndt. With 20 years of research experience, Cristl has spent additional years
of training to become both a Registered Aromatherapist as well as a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner. Her rigorous technical
background in chemistry makes her, in my mind, the Aromatherapist of Aromatherapists! Cristl's training as an Aromatherapist
is with the proper use of Essential Oils.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE, 7 CE Hours
Saturday, August 14th 2010 from 9:30am - 4:30pm
Location: 613 E. Dynasty Dr.
Cary, NC 27513
Description - This
one day comprehensive aromatherapy workshop is suitable for healing arts practitioners and lay people alike. With a growing
number of healing arts practitioners incorporating aromatherapy into their work, this workshop will give you the confidence
to use essential oils safely and effectively for both you and your clients. Essential oils can be used for much more than
simply relaxing. You will learn how to prepare blends for achy muscles, anxiety, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, insomnia,
PMS, water retention, and much more. In addition, you will work in pairs and take turns being the practitioner and the client,
where the practitioner interviews the client and prepares a blend specific to their needs and desired outcome. The “client”
may take home their blend.
Topics covered include different methods of administration, safety and toxicity, cautions
and contraindications, indications and dosages, where to purchase unadulterated and unrectified oils and supplies, what to
look out for when purchasing oils, methods of extraction, the history and chemistry of essential oils, olfaction and the nervous
system, base oils and blending, and chakra balancing and clearing.
The 15 essential oils that will be covered in
this workshop are Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cajuput, Chamomile Roman, Clary Sage, Elemi, Geranium, Ginger, Juniper, Lavender,
Peppermint, Sandalwood, Tea Tree New Zealand, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang.
By the end of the class, you should have
sufficient knowledge to use essential oils for therapeutic purposes, and confidently incorporate aromatherapy into your healing
arts sessions.
The cost is $175 and you will receive either 7 NCBTMB Continuing Education Hours or 7 Contact
Hours for non-NCBTMB members. Your student manual and supply fee are included in the cost. Classes held in locations other
